Low Cost Bungalow is always challenging, yet fun to design. Our primary design idea was optimising spaces not only inside the built, but more importantly outside & around the built. We employed smart space planning techniques, creating multi-functional areas to maximise utility without compromising on comfort. This included pause points interconnected with the living space & designing semi open spaces for climate like Karjat, which extended the enclosed built into a semi open space as a part of the built environment. Energy efficiency was another key consideration. We incorporated passive design principles, utilising natural light and ventilation to reduce energy consumption. Strategically placed windows, shaded areas, and insulated walls helped maintain comfortable indoor temperatures year-round, thereby reducing reliance on artificial heating and cooling systems. Offsets are formed keeping the existing trees location fixed, which fabricates spill-out gathering spaces, enhancing the day to day moments & creating memories. The roof is split into two, which scales down the size of the house, and reduces the cost of construction.
